Assistant Controller
Redwood City, California

FP International (FPI), a world-wide leading manufacturer of protective packaging machinery and consumable products has an opening for an Assistant Controller to join its corporate team. This position is located in Redwood City, California.

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing the daily accounting functions related to general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable and fixed assets. This person will also manage the domestic monthly close cycle, review and approved reconciliations, prepare the financial statements and drive the annual budget process for a multi-division operation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a staff of 5 in the functional areas of GL, AP, Cost Accounting Fixed Assets, and Payroll.
  • Maintain Oracle modules and change set-ups as necessary. Close Oracle sub-ledgers and reconcile to the GL.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and publish financial statements.
  • Participate in maintaining bank/vendor/employee relationships. .Review company debt and interest charges.
  • Review monthly/quarterly sales commission calculations.
  • Prepare/file/review monthly/quarterly/annual government financial requests.
  • Review property and other tax returns.
  • Manage internet expense reporting tools.
  • Document policies and procedures for areas of responsibility.
  • Lead in preparing the annual budget for U.S. operations
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting.
  • Lead the process of resource planning, standard cost setting in all plants
  • Within functional areas of responsibility, drive the streamlining and continuous improvement process.
  • Develop metrics, KPI’s and Scorecards at all functional/process levels

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree with emphasis in accounting. MBA or CPA highly desirable.
  • 10-15 years of recent accounting experience and 5 years of management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of enterprise-based accounting systems, especially Oracle 11i (preferably as a super-user), Excel, ADI, Discoverer and ReportSmith reporting tools.
  • Recent experience with driving budget process for multi-division operation.
  • Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience with federal, state and local tax compliance and audit matters.
  • Minimum travel required.

Technical Support Engineering Supervisor
Thornton, Illinois

FP International (FPI), a world-wide leading manufacturer of protective packaging machinery and consumable products has an opening for an experienced Technical Support Engineering Supervisor. This position is located in our Thornton, IL manufacturing facility.
Reporting to the National Field Service Manager, the Technical Support Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for providing field service engineering and technical assistance to customers and field service personnel in the areas of machine installation, maintenance, repair, training and modifications. This person will be the primary liaison between field service, manufacturing, QA and the machine warehouse group.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality to investigate reported problems in the field and develop corrective actions. Participate in efforts to develop and incorporate design improvements and document all changes for clear and concise communication to service, sales and PMOS production.
  • Work directly with corporate engineering to maintain PMOS machine and equipment documentation database. Update design documents (drawings, schematics and materials lists) used as reference material by purchasing and field service as needed. Provide continual support to parts department to ensure specification documents used for purchasing are complete, accurate and up to date.
  • Manage a staff of 2 technical support personnel.
  • Create technical bulletins for communication of recommended adjustments, preventative maintenance or design upgrades on PMOS machines.
  • Support new product development and product improvements efforts by conducting in-house trials and overseeing field test activities. This will require ability to generate basic test plans and issue comprehensive test reports.
  • Provide telephone support to the 800 Technical line during high demand.
  • Develop, publish and facilitate FP’s machines/accessory training modules.
  • Conduct “in the field” training for Field Service personnel to improve and build technical skill levels.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or other technical field

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in development or technical support of industrial equipment and at least 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical diagrams
  • Must possess a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and have a familiarity with industrial power systems
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD LT; Oracle 11i experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented and solid time management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding self-initiative requiring minimal supervision
  • Passion to satisfy the customer and a positive “can-do" attitude
  • Ability to be a team player, train small groups and build strong relationships

Field Service Technician
Los Angeles, California

Reporting to the National Field Service Manager, the Field Service Technician will be responsible for coordinating all machine preventive maintenance and service in assigned region to maximize customer’s satisfaction and minimize downtime. They will also work closely with appropriate sales representatives to prioritize scheduling, installation, and demos as needed.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform and coordinate all machine service in assigned region.
  • Produce weekly PM and service schedule with Manager, Team Leads, and sales reps for maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain records in Oracle database in a timely matter.
  • Maintain current customer list and update periodically for Manager.
  • Process defective Film/ equipment reports as required by region.
  • Ensure emergency calls are prioritized as assigned by Manager, Team Leads, sales reps and technicians.
  • Attend all safety meetings at plants or arranged telephone conferences.
  • Keep Field Service vans in road worth condition and follow service guidelines.
  • Support machine prep work in plant as required.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Initiate product improvement based on field knowledge.
  • Communication of competitive activity at customers to FP employees.
  • Assist in recovering underutilized machines and accessories in the field.
  • Overnight travel required up to 40%.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associates Degree in electronics or mechanics

Experience:

  • 2-4 years field service experience preferably in a warehouse setting
  • Experience in extensive travel to service clients
  • Must possess a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical diagrams
  • Experience working with packaging machinery a plus
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Must possess intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Oracle experience is a plus
  • Detail oriented and solid time management and organizational skills
